Not Even Out Yet, Yoshi Already Rules the eShop

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book knocked Pokemon Pokopia off the top of the Switch 2 eShop, and the game isn't even out yet.

Pokemon Pokopia has been virtually untouchable on the Switch 2 eShop since launch. Not anymore. According to the latest Switch 2 eShop charts for the week of May 17, 2026, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book has taken the number one spot on the All Games chart, and it hasn't even released yet. Pre-loads alone were enough to dethrone the reigning champion.

That's a absurd achievement. Yoshi isn't launching until next week, which means every single "sale" driving it to the top is someone putting money down on a game they can't play yet. Pokemon Pokopia, Mario Kart World, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, two separate Pokemon and Zelda titles; Yoshi is sitting above all of them without a single player having touched it. I can't remember the last time a Yoshi game generated this kind of pre-release demand.

The eShop listing also reveals the game clocks in at 20.6GB on Switch 2, as spotted in eShop file size listings pulled from North American, European, and Japanese storefronts. That's a hefty footprint for a Yoshi title and suggests Nintendo isn't skimping on content here.

Elsewhere on the charts, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle cracked the top five, while Outbound made the top ten. On the download-only side, Mixtape holds the number one position, with Subnautica, Sektori, and Fallout 4 rounding out the top slots. The full top 30 is stacked with Switch 2 Editions of older titles like Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, and Cyberpunk 2077, which tells you plenty about how aggressively Nintendo's install base is rebuilding its libraries on the new hardware.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book launches on Switch 2 next week. Whether it holds the top spot once people can actually play it is the next question, but beating Pokemon on hype alone is already a statement.
