Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Locks In September 17

The remake of one of the most beloved JRPGs ever made has a date. Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter arrives September 17 on all platforms.

September 17 is the date. Falcom and GungHo Online Entertainment have confirmed that Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter will launch worldwide on PS5, Switch, Switch 2, and PC via Steam, with both physical and digital editions available in the west.

For anyone who played through the 1st Chapter remake and hit that cliffhanger ending, this can't come soon enough. The original Trails in the Sky SC is widely considered the stronger half of the duology, and the remake of 1st Chapter was one of the best JRPGs to come out last year. If the sequel lands with the same quality, Falcom will have pulled off something rare: a two-part remake where both halves actually deliver. I'm expecting this to be one of the best RPGs of the year.

Several new English voice actors have been confirmed for the sequel, as reported by Siliconera. Ray Chase returns as Kevin Graham, reprising his role from Trails Beyond the Horizon, while Courtney Lin is back as Renne. Other confirmed cast members include Cassandra Lee Morris as Anelace Elfead, Liam O'Brien as Georg Weissman, Patrick Seitz as Mueller Vander, and Stephen Fu as Leonhardt. Players who have 1st Chapter clear data on their system will unlock classic SC-era costumes for Estelle and Joshua.

Japanese pre-orders come with a download code for a high-definition remaster of the original Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, complete with quality-of-life features like a high-speed mode and text log. There's no word on whether that bonus will make it to the west. As Nintendo Life pointed out, GungHo doesn't own the rights to the original English translation, which could complicate things. Japan also gets a collector's Uroboros Box at 13,860 yen, packed with an arranged soundtrack, a Blu-ray set of the 2011-2012 Trails in the Sky anime, a 500-character encyclopedia covering every NPC in Liberl, and a set of sheep mascot costume DLC.

The 1st Chapter remake is already available on all the same platforms for anyone looking to catch up before September.
