If you've been trying to play Kingdom Come: Deliverance II with Valve's new Steam Controller and wondering why your inputs were being ignored, there's finally a fix. A Steam Beta Client update pushed on May 26th resolves the Steam Controller input issue in KCD 2, along with a handful of other fixes across desktop and Steam Deck.

The update also addresses a rare bug where GameOverlayUI64.exe could stop responding and chew through CPU, fixes the Steam library not showing the option to clear custom backgrounds and logos, and resolves a Remote Play issue where the Steam Link app wouldn't show paired computers as online. All of these changes apply to both the desktop client and SteamOS.

Separately, Valve pushed a stable client update noted on the Steam store that tackles a potential charging issue when the new Steam Controller is removed from its charging puck. The new controller is still fresh in people's hands, so expect a steady drip of firmware and client patches like this over the coming weeks. I'd be surprised if we don't see another round before the month is out.

The KCD 2 fix is a small one in isolation, but it matters. A controller that doesn't work with one of the bigger RPGs on the platform is sours a first impression fast, especially when Valve is trying to sell people on new hardware.
