OG Yukiko Actor Blesses Her Persona 4 Revival Replacement
Amanda Winn Lee, the original English voice of Yukiko Amagi, has publicly backed Brianna Knickerbocker as her replacement in Persona 4 Revival, calling her "an absolute doll" who will "rock this role."

"Brianna is an absolute doll and I know she will rock this role and it's ridiculous laugh!" That's Amanda Winn Lee, the original English voice of Yukiko Amagi, publicly endorsing the actor stepping into her shoes for Persona 4 Revival. In a community where recasting beloved characters can turn ugly fast, this kind of graceful torch-passing stands out.
Atlus revealed five of the new English voice actors for the remake yesterday, and every single one is a fresh face in the role. Nazeeh Tarsha takes over as protagonist Yu Narukami, Paul Castro Jr. voices Yosuke Hanamura, Anne Yatco plays Chie Satonaka, Brianna Knickerbocker is the new Yukiko, and Ari Thrash steps in as Marie. The Japanese cast, by contrast, remains unchanged from prior versions of the game.
What's struck me about this reveal is how openly the new cast has acknowledged the weight of what they're inheriting. Knickerbocker called Yukiko an "absolute bucket list dream role" on Twitter, while Tarsha, the new protagonist, wrote that he sees himself "solely as an iteration" and that Johnny Yong Bosch "will forever be my and many people's GOAT." Castro Jr. spoke about "the immeasurable amount of care and consideration" that went into recording, and Thrash admitted she knows fans will miss the original Marie. There's no bravado here, just genuine respect, and it's refreshing compared to the defensive PR-speak you usually get around controversial casting changes.
Not everyone is taking it as smoothly. Chie actor Erin Fitzgerald, who herself replaced original actor Tracey Rooney for Persona 4 Golden, said she was "deeply grieving" losing the role. Atlus still hasn't publicly explained why the entire English cast was recast, which previously drew frustration from Yuri Lowenthal, the original Yosuke. That silence from Atlus is frustrating; these actors deserve a straight answer, and so do fans. But the new cast clearly isn't treating this as just another gig, and Lee's endorsement of Knickerbocker suggests at least some of the original actors are ready to let the next generation run with it.
Persona 4 Revival launches February 18, 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It will also be available on Game Pass at launch. Atlus is hosting a dedicated Persona 4 Revival broadcast on June 18 at 4 PM PT, where more details on the remake are expected.
