Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising Lands on Switch 2 in Septemb
Cygames and Arc System Works are bringing Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising to Switch 2 on September 17, alongside new DLC character Id and the version 2.60 update.

September 17 is a big day for fighting game fans on Nintendo's new hardware. Cygames and Arc System Works announced that Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising is coming to Switch 2, launching alongside a new DLC character and the game's version 2.60 update.
The new character is Id, pulled from Granblue Fantasy: Relink, which is a fun crossover pick that connects Cygames' two biggest console Granblue projects. The version 2.60 update also brings a new stage, a new system mechanic, system mechanic adjustments, character balance changes, and a new costume. Cygames teased additional unannounced content with a vague "and more" at the end of the list.
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising has been available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam since its launch, but this is its first appearance on any Nintendo platform. Getting it onto Switch 2 is a smart move. Arc System Works fighters have historically done well on Nintendo hardware, and the Switch 2's improved specs should handle Rising's gorgeous cel-shaded visuals without the compromises that would have been necessary on the original Switch. I'm curious to see how the netcode holds up on Nintendo's online infrastructure, though, because that's where previous Switch fighting games have stumbled.
The announcement dropped alongside EVO 2026 coverage, which tracks. Fighting game reveals clustered around the biggest tournament of the year is standard practice, and Arc System Works clearly wanted to make a splash. The studio also revealed a new DLC character for Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes on the same day, so they're spreading the love across their lineup.
All of it lands on September 17. The Switch 2 version, the Id DLC, and the full 2.60 update are all arriving on the same date across every platform.
