GTA 6, God of War, Nioh 3, and 100+ More Hit 2026

From GTA 6 in November to God of War and Nioh 3 in February, 2026's release schedule is absurdly packed with major titles across every genre and platform.

Counting up the confirmed and windowed releases across Destructoid's 2026 calendar, the number crosses 100 individual titles before you even get to summer. And the back half of the year, anchored by Grand Theft Auto 6 in November, hasn't even filled in most of its dates yet. I've been covering games for years and I can't remember a single calendar year this dense.

January alone has over 30 releases, including 2XKO, Dynasty Warriors: Origins on Switch 2, and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade finally hitting Xbox. February is where things get ridiculous: God of War: Sons of Sparta on PS5, Nioh 3 on PC and PS5, Yakuza Kiwami 3, REANIMAL, Mario Tennis Fever, and a Deus Ex Remastered all land within the same two-week stretch. That's not a release window, that's a pile-up. Some of these games are going to get buried, and a few of them don't deserve to be.

The holiday season is even more congested. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 arrives October 23, and GTA 6 is currently locked for November. Marvel's Wolverine has a fall 2026 window but no firm date. Fable, which was supposed to be part of that holiday crush, just got bumped to February 2027 to avoid the carnage, and honestly, that might be the smartest delay of the year. Competing with GTA 6 and a new Call of Duty in the same quarter is a death sentence for anything that isn't a guaranteed blockbuster.

What stands out to me is how many of these are sequels or remasters to long-dormant franchises. Nioh 3, Deus Ex Remastered, Styx: Blades of Greed, a new God of War, Yakuza Kiwami 3. Studios are betting big on nostalgia and established IP rather than new ideas, which makes the few original titles on the calendar, like REANIMAL and Mio: Memories in Orbit, feel even more important. Players are going to have to make hard choices about where their time and money go this year, because there simply aren't enough hours to play everything landing between now and December.
