Have you ever noticed a message pop up on your screen while playing Stardew Valley that says "a train is passing through"? With the recent 1.6 update, players have been curious about the significance of this event. This mysterious train notification can appear between 9 am and 6 pm and can bring some exciting surprises to your game.

When you see the train notification, make sure to head towards the railroad as quickly as possible, as the passing train might drop valuable resources for you to collect. It's important to note that not all trains will contain resources, but it's always worth checking out.

Trains in Stardew Valley come in various forms, each with its own unique characteristics. Some of the types of trains you might encounter include:

  • A grey train adorned with the Joja logo
  • A passenger train that does not drop resources
  • A mysterious blue train that moves twice as fast with barred windows
  • A red train filled with presents, exclusive to the Winter season

It is not necessary to be present as the train passes through to collect the dropped resources, but make sure to gather them on the same day, as they will disappear overnight. However, be cautious when approaching the train, as standing in front of it can cause damage to your character. Additionally, attacking the train with tools or weapons can result in knockback damage.

The resources that may drop from the train range from basic items like coal and stone to more unique finds like the coveted Leprechaun Shoes. Keep an eye out for the train, especially if you are on the hunt for the Leprechaun Hat to complete your look in the game.

Here are some examples of items that can drop from the train:

  • Coal
  • Stone
  • Magma Geode
  • Wood
  • Gold
  • Hardwood
  • Leprechaun Shoes
  • Iridium
