The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is breaking new ground with its first R-rated film, Deadpool & Wolverine. AMC Theaters CEO Adam Aron recently announced that the day-one ticket pre-sales for the highly anticipated movie have surpassed any other R-rated film in history.

According to Aron's post on Twitter, around 200,000 moviegoers have already secured their seats for Deadpool & Wolverine, set to hit theaters next month. This impressive number puts the film ahead of other successful R-rated projects like Joker, Oppenheimer, Deadpool 2, and the original Deadpool.

While Aron did not disclose the exact revenue generated from these ticket sales, The Hollywood Reporter estimates that Deadpool & Wolverine has already raked in an impressive $8 million-$9 million based on the 200,000 pre-sale tickets.

With many blockbuster movies slated to premiere in the coming months, including Deadpool & Wolverine starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, the film has already made history with its record-breaking ticket sales at AMC.

Fandango also reported that the superhero team-up film has broken its first-day ticket sales record for 2024 and boasts the best pre-sale numbers for the entire Deadpool franchise (according to ComicBook). Tickets for the upcoming MCU movie went on sale just two days ago, sparking immense excitement among fans.

"Deadpool and Wolverine are proving to be the dynamic duo, smashing records before even gracing the big screen," said Jerramy Hainline, EVP of Fandango Ticketing. "The success of the film's ticket pre-sales underscores the strong appeal and excitement these iconic characters bring to audiences nationwide."

Deadpool & Wolverine is set to premiere on July 26, offering fans a long-awaited reunion with Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth and Jackman's Wolverine. The film marks Reynolds' third appearance as Deadpool and promises to introduce both characters into the MCU, fulfilling years of anticipation.
