The first review of Team Ninja's PS5 exclusive, Rise of the Ronin, has been published in Japanese magazine Famitsu. According to Ryokutya2089, Famitsu awarded the game a combined score of 37/40, with its four reviewers giving it impressive scores of 10, 9, 9, and 9.

The review highlights the unique aspect of the game where player choices can affect the story and fate, providing an extremely satisfying experience. The open-world setting at the end of the Edo period of Japan adds to the immersive and enjoyable gameplay, allowing players to make impactful decisions.

One notable feature praised in the review is the ability to team up and fight alongside historical figures, adding a fun visual impact to the game. The game's hack-and-slash gameplay, combined with a Souls-like feel, received positive feedback. However, the review does mention that the game has some rough edges and visual shortcomings that may deter some players.

With a score of 37/40, Rise of the Ronin is on par with Team Ninja's previous title, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, which also received a positive reception in Famitsu. It remains to be seen how the western media will receive this latest title once the review embargo is lifted.
