Blizzard has excited fans with the announcement of the release date for World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic. A pre-expansion patch is set to be released on April 30, ahead of the Cataclysm Classic launch on May 20 at 3pm PT worldwide. Blizzard said this new release will bring back the shattering of Azeroth and the changed landscape in Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, along with system changes, new class and race combinations, and the addition of Worgen and Goblin races.

Players will have the opportunity to explore new zones, dungeons, raids, engage in PvP combat in Tol Barad, and uncover the mysteries of the Darkmoon Faire on Darkmoon Island. They can also delve into the new Archaeology profession, use Reforging to upgrade gear, and more exciting features.

As with previous Classic expansions, Cataclysm Classic will be available to all players with an active WoW subscription. The release of Cataclysm Classic was confirmed during BlizzCon in December, alongside the announcement of the new Worldsoul Saga and three upcoming World of Warcraft expansions.

The Worldsoul Saga will kick off with The War Within, set to launch in late summer or early autumn 2024. This will be followed by the subsequent entries Midnight and The Last Titan, promising an epic story that celebrates the first 20 years of World of Warcraft and lays the groundwork for Azeroth's future.

Cataclysm Features

Additionally, the Warcraft franchise's general manager mentioned the possibility of licensing out the Warcraft IP to third-party developers in the future, opening up exciting opportunities for the beloved franchise.

Stay tuned for the release of Cataclysm Classic on May 20 and embark on a nostalgic journey through Azeroth's rich history!
