Starfield, the expansive sci-fi RPG from Bethesda Game Studios, is on the brink of a significant performance upgrade for PC gamers. With the integration of AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3) into its Steam Beta version, Starfield is not just pushing the boundaries of in-game graphics and performance but also setting a new standard for gaming experiences.

What's Coming to Starfield?

  • Performance Boost with FSR 3: Next week, Steam Beta users of Starfield will witness the introduction of AMD's FSR 3, a cutting-edge technology designed to enhance frames-per-second (FPS) and ensure smoother gameplay. This feature is expected to be rolled out to all PC players later in February, ahead of the game's forthcoming update.
  • Beyond Graphics: The recent update on January 30th already brought significant improvements in lighting, shadows, and textures, alongside fixes for critical technical issues. However, the introduction of FSR 3 is poised to take the gaming experience to an entirely new level by interpolating additional frames, potentially doubling the frame rate for a much smoother feel.

AMD's FSR 3 competes directly with Nvidia's DLSS 3, offering a significant boost in performance by creating additional frames between the normally rendered ones. This technology is not just about higher FPS; it's about delivering a seamless and immersive gaming experience. Supported on a wide range of graphics cards, including Nvidia GPUs from the RTX 20-series and above, FSR 3 is a game-changer for PC gamers seeking the ultimate performance without compromising on quality.

Bethesda has a roadmap full of exciting updates for Starfield, including regular releases every six weeks to introduce new features like city maps, additional difficulty options, and mod support. The first story expansion, Shattered Space, is also on the horizon for later this year, promising to expand the Starfield universe and potentially elevate the game's standing among Bethesda's illustrious titles.

In the meantime, Bethesda is engaging the Starfield community with a unique competition, inviting fans to submit original spacesuit designs. The winner's design will be brought to life as a lifesize spacesuit and delivered to their home, along with an Xbox Series X, a limited edition Starfield Xbox controller, and a themed headset. This contest runs until February 24, offering a creative outlet for fans to express their passion for the game.
