Sony has officially announced that it is in the process of evaluating the compatibility of its PlayStation VR2 headset with personal computers. This initiative is aimed at providing PS VR2 users the ability to connect their devices to PCs, thereby granting them access to a wider array of games later this year.

The company expressed its enthusiasm on the PlayStation Blog, stating, "We're excited to be in the testing phase for enabling PS VR2 players to dive into a broader selection of games on PC, in addition to the rich lineup of PS VR2 titles available through PS5. We're aiming to roll out this support in 2024, so keep an eye out for further announcements."

This announcement was part of a larger update that included information on several upcoming PS VR2 games, such as Rebellion's Zombie Army VR, set to launch later this year.

The PS5's virtual reality headset, which debuted in February 2023 with a price tag of $549.99 / €599.99 / £529.99, experienced a slower start in sales than anticipated. However, Sony's president and soon-to-be interim PlayStation CEO, Hiroki Totoki, has expressed optimism about the PS VR2's potential to surpass the sales of its predecessor. The original PlayStation VR, released in October 2016 for the PS4, sold over five million units.

Recent releases for the PS VR2 include The Wizards Dark Times Brotherhood and Arizona Sunshine 2 DLC, with Little Cities: Bigger, Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate, and Zombie Army VR slated for future release.

Eric Lempel, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s senior vice president and head of global marketing, has highlighted the significance of VR to Sony, describing it as a key innovation area, despite acknowledging the VR market's nascent status and the challenges it faces. Lempel's comments to the Financial Times underscored the mixed expectations surrounding VR's impact on gaming, even as Sony's VR sales perform well.
