War Thunder 2.55.1.142 Patch Notes (3rd June 2026)
Sound mods are on hold after crashes emerged in testing, and a new voice-over toggle lands for specially decorated vehicles.

Sound mod support was looking close, and then it wasn't. Update 2.55.1.142 has temporarily disabled sound mod functionality on the WIP client after testing revealed client crashes, pushing back the feature's arrival on the main client. Gaijin says they're continuing work on the issues and plan to move testing over to the Dev Server ahead of the next major update.
It's a frustrating setback for anyone who's been waiting on custom audio, but at least they caught it in testing rather than shipping crashes to the full player base. The team is asking players to submit bug reports if they encounter any remaining issues, which is the right call.
On a smaller note, a new toggle has been added to the Sound settings menu letting you enable or disable special voice-overs for specially decorated vehicles. If you've ever wanted to silence a seasonal skin's unique audio without losing your other sound settings, that option now exists. Keep an eye on the crash fix progress if sound mods are on your radar.

- The ability to use sound mods has been temporarily disabled in the WIP client. Thank you to everyone who tested sound mods on the WIP client; thanks to your help, we have found some issues, including client crashes. Because of this, we’ve had to postpone the enabling of sound mods on the main client. We’re continue to work on fixing the issues and plan to continue testing sound mods on the Dev Server to identify remaining problems before the next major update release. Sound mods will be enabled on the main game client as soon as we fix any critical bugs. If you encounter any, please leave a report, as they will help us solve the remaining issues as fast as possible.

Patch notes reflect only key changes, meaning they may not include a complete list of all improvements made. Additionally, War Thunder is constantly being updated and some changes may not require an update. Changes reflected in patch notes are formed by taking reactions and requests of the community from the bug reporting service, forums and other official platforms into account. Bug fixes and changes are implemented in order of importance, for example a game-breaking bug will be worked on and implemented sooner.
