VALORANT Patch Notes 12.08 (28th April 2026)
Skirmish gets a competitive overhaul, Ascent swaps in for Bind, and Premier returns for PC players in VALORANT's latest update.
Skirmish just got a lot more serious. Patch 12.08 introduces Skirmish: Ascension, a ranked 1v1 and 2v2 mode with its own competitive leaderboard on the FTW site. No economy, no full agent kits, each of the 14 available agents comes equipped with a single ability, and weapons escalate through stages from pistols up to Vandal and Phantom by round nine. First to ten rounds wins. It's a stripped-back format that puts gunfight fundamentals front and centre, and I'm curious whether the FTW ladder gives it the legs to stick around.
On the map side, Ascent is back in Competitive and Deathmatch rotation while Bind rotates out. Premier also returns for PC players, with Stage V26A3 matches kicking off May 6 and running Saturdays through June 13, followed by multi-day playoffs starting June 20.
Console players should know Skirmish: Ascension has two known issues at launch, the overtime timer freezes at 00:50, and ability effects don't show on the Combat Report the following round. Riot has flagged both. Everything in the update is listed below.
