The Isle Patch 0.21.772 Notes (4th August 2026)
The Isle's latest update introduces the Austroraptor and closes out the Hordetest with a substantial stability pass that tackles everything from skeleton physics crashes to Linux server degradation.

Austroraptor lands in patch 0.21.772, and it brings a toolkit built around water. The new raptor gets three core abilities: a pounce via right-click, a water-surface jump from spacebar that lets it launch from swimming, and a spearfishing stance (G key) that mirrors pteranodon's daytime fishing mechanic. That last one matters because it expands the roster of dinosaurs that can actively hunt fish, shifting the utility calculus for players planning a diet around aquatic prey. The addition of another mangrove location and fresh skin patterns are straightforward content adds, but the spearfishing angle suggests the developers are deliberately building out water-based gameplay depth.
Behind the scenes sits a patch dominated by fixes rather than features. The changelog lists over 40 corrections, and several address long-standing friction points. The skeleton physics crash, characters falling through meshes on rerender, and the tenontosaurus scaling issue during hill slide all represent the kind of hard-to-reproduce bugs that can tank server stability or break specific dinosaurs in edge cases. The fix for elder pteranodon latching failures is particularly relevant for players who rely on that mechanic for traversal or combat positioning. Linux server performance degradation at high population is also resolved, which directly affects any player on that platform running or joining packed servers.
Several fixes reveal ongoing tuning of systems introduced or reworked in recent patches. The hill slide system alone gets six corrections: momentum carrying upwards, knockdown activating on minor slopes, animations inverting (dilophosaurus), stamina consumption not responding to slowdown, and the ability to rest mid-slide. That density of fixes to a single mechanic suggests the hill slide overhaul from an earlier patch needed refinement before it could be considered stable. The skin system also receives multiple corrections, including a reset-only-the-broken-section approach that should reduce frustration when customising dinosaurs with incomplete default sections.
The patch removes stamina cost for carnivores dragging corpses, a practical quality-of-life change that eases the tax on predators managing kills. It's small, but it acknowledges that the old system added friction without meaningful gameplay depth. Conversely, the fix preventing players from acquiring prime elder status after 75% growth closes an exploit that would have allowed unusual progression paths, keeping growth curves predictable.
What remains unaddressed is harder to pin down from patch notes alone, but the sheer volume of fixes suggests the Hordetest exposed instability across multiple systems. The absence of any mention of balance changes to Austroraptor itself (no damage, cooldown, or ability tweaks listed) means players will be discovering its role in the meta through play rather than through deliberate tuning. That's typical for new dinosaur launches, but it does mean the first few days will involve community testing before the developers have concrete feedback on whether the raptor fills its intended niche or overshadows existing builds.
