Subnautica 2's fourth hotfix arrived today, and it's focused on the kind of problems that stop players cold. Angel Combs weren't opening for some players, which locked progression entirely. That's the sort of bug that makes early access feel less like exploration and more like a wall, so this fix matters.

Beyond progression, the team addressed water currents bleeding into player bases, a friction point that made movement unpredictable and building a nightmare. The FOV slider also wasn't appearing on Xbox, and two crashes. One on Xbox when joining session invites, another related to creature spawning. Have been squashed.

One heads-up: if you're running community mods, disable them before launching. The hotfix won't be compatible with existing mod versions, and launching with them active could trigger crashes or unexpected behaviour. Once mod creators update their work, you can reinstall safely.

The full hotfix notes are below, and the update may take time to roll out globally. Xbox players will need to wait for certification clearance.

Fix

Hello Subnauts,

Our fourth hotfix for Subnautica 2 just arrived. We’ve fixed some progression issues, water currents appearing in bases, and the FOV slider not showing on Xbox.

We continue to monitor community feedback, so please keep reporting any bugs or issues via in-game feedback or on our support site.

The full list of changes in today’s hotfix is below.

  • Fixed Angel Combs not opening for some players, blocking progression
  • Fixed water currents appearing in player bases, affecting movement, getting stuck, or being unable to build or expand bases
  • Fixed FOV slider not showing on Xbox
  • Fixed two low-volume crashes
  • Crash on Xbox when trying to join a session invite
  • Crash related to creature spawn

A reminder: If you play Subnautica 2 with mods, please temporarily disable, remove, or uninstall them before launching the game following the hotfix. Community mods will not be updated for compatibility with the latest hotfix, and may cause crashes or other unexpected behavior on launch. Once the mod creators have updated their content, you can re-enable and reinstall your mods.

This hotfix may take some time to roll out worldwide and will be available on Xbox once it has cleared certification.

Keep diving!
