Slay the Spire 2 Beta Patch Notes - v0.110.0 (31st July 2026)
The latest beta patch undoes last patch's rework of two contested cards, introduces a new keyboard-only control scheme, and spreads balance adjustments across every hero in the roster.

Mega Crit has opted to revert rather than iterate on two of 0.109.0's most significant changes. Mirage and Pillar of Creation both return to their pre-0.109.0 designs, though neither emerges unchanged. Mirage regains the ability to generate Block based on enemy Poison and no longer Exhausts, which restores the card's previous identity but stops short of full reversion by removing the Exhaust clause entirely. Pillar of Creation reverts its once-per-turn trigger limitation but takes a Block reduction from 3(4) to 2(3), suggesting the developers still view the card's raw output as the problem, not its design. This dual revert signals that last patch's rework direction missed the mark for both Silent and Regent players, though the accompanying adjustments hint that Mega Crit is not simply undoing their work. They are recalibrating.
Keyboard-only controls arrive as a new feature alongside these balance shifts, completing the accessibility picture for players who cannot or prefer not to use a controller or mouse. The implementation includes updated glyphs, remapped input screens, and explicit feedback when Steam Input is active, suggesting this is not a hastily bolted-on option but a properly integrated control method. For accessibility-focused players and those on certain hardware configurations, this removes a barrier that may have previously made the game unplayable or unnecessarily cumbersome.
The balance changes spread across all six heroes, but the scope varies sharply. Ironclad receives modest buffs to Mangle and Pact's End, both damage increases that tighten their scaling without reshaping their role. Silent's overhaul cuts deeper: Haze shifts from a 3-cost Poison applicator to a 2-cost card that applies Weak, Outbreak transforms from a Power into a 3-cost Skill with immediate Poison triggers, and Scare becomes Sidestep with a completely different function. Next-turn Energy gain rather than Weak application. These are not number tweaks but identity changes, and they suggest Silent's Poison archetype needed structural adjustment, not just tuning. Regent's Regalite relic shifts from passive Block generation to a once-per-turn trigger, reducing its raw output but potentially making it more interactive. Necrobinder's Eidolon can no longer generate mid-combat, a restriction that removes a specific edge case rather than addressing broader balance. Defect's buffs to Biased Cognition, Refract, and Synchronize are straightforward, though the Rocket Punch nerf, from cost reduction to cost reduction by 1, narrows its ceiling without killing it outright.
The patch also addresses a critical save corruption bug where Epoch unlocks could be lost, permanently blocking Timeline progress. Affected saves are repaired on load, which prevents further progression walls, though players who encountered this bug before the fix will need to verify their Timeline state. Multiplayer softlock fixes for Imitation Learning, Tutor, and Replay suggest these interactions were fragile, and their resolution should stabilise cooperative runs. The addition of form VFX for character transformations and new portrait art for seven cards signals ongoing polish, though these are cosmetic rather than mechanical gains.
The reversion of Mirage and Pillar demonstrates the patch cadence: Mega Crit is willing to reverse course when a rework does not land, rather than chase it with iterative fixes. That confidence matters, because it means future changes are more likely to be deliberate rather than defensive. What remains unaddressed is whether the underlying reasons those cards needed reworking in 0.109.0 have been solved by these reversions, or whether they will simply return to their previous balance state and wait for a different approach.
