Sea of Thieves Release Notes - Hotfix 3.7.2.1 (29th May 2026)
Hotfix 3.7.2.1 tightens up Last Ship Standing's endgame, giving crews more breathing room in the final stretch and extra time to collect their loot after winning.
Last Ship Standing gets the bulk of the attention in Hotfix 3.7.2.1, live today for Sea of Thieves. The two changes here are small but sensible: the endgame Battle Bounds will now hold at a larger size rather than continuing to squeeze crews into an increasingly cramped kill zone, and a new winners' grace period gives victorious ships extra time to scoop up their spoils before the final portal closes. Both feel like direct responses to player frustration, and I'm glad Rare acted on them.
For battles that drag past an hour without a natural conclusion, the Bounds will eventually shrink to a forced match-ending zone, which should prevent the rare stalemate from running indefinitely. A stuck loading screen that blocked crews from joining battles after surfacing has also been fixed.
A handful of known issues remain: rubberbanding while waiting beneath the waves, cannon loading being disabled pre-battle, and quick requeue temporarily pulled to address instability. Rare says all three are being tracked for a follow-up update. The complete notes are below.

Last Ship Standing
Shrinking Battle Bounds
- While the Battle Bounds will continue to shrink at the same stages early in the battle, during the endgame the area will now remain at a larger size to provide more space for crews to battle.
- While most battles will end naturally in a flurry of cannon fire, prolonged battles of over an hour will now be forced to an end with the Battle Bounds shrinking to a final ‘match ending’ zone to ensure one ship can be crowned victorious.
Winners’ Grace Period
- After besting their rivals to become the Last Ship Standing, winners are now given additional time to collect their spoils and head to the final portal.
Fixed Issues
Last Ship Standing
- When enough rivals are found, crews surfacing from beneath the waves should no longer experience a stuck loading screen that prevents them from joining the battle. (Released previously as part of an interim update.)
Known Issues
Last Ship Standing – Waiting for Battle
- While travelling beneath the waves waiting for a Last Ship Standing battle, players may experience rubberbanding when moving around their ship. The team are aware of the issue and working to address it as part of a follow-up update.
- While waiting for a Last Ship Standing battle, crews are currently prevented from loading cannons and interacting with the ship’s Ammo Crates. This is not consistent with Faction Battles and will be addressed as part of a follow-up update.
Last Ship Standing – Quick Requeue
- Following a Last Ship Standing battle, the ability to requeue into the next fight has been temporarily disabled to address instability. The team are aware of the issue and working to address and return this feature as part of a follow-up update.
