Monster Hunter Wilds 1.042.00.00 Patch Notes (3rd August 2026)
The 1.042 update shifts Monster Hunter Wilds' event quest model offline and finally lets you carry your Prologue Demo progress into the full game. Here's what actually changes.

Monster Hunter Wilds' 1.042 update arrives Tuesday August 4 at 2:30 a.m. UTC (Monday August 3 at 7:30 p.m. PDT) and makes a quiet but significant structural change to how the game handles event content. The headline shift is offline access: all 25 currently available event quests and Challenge Quests, which previously required an online connection just to accept, can now be played offline. The limited-time "Just What the Doctor Ordered" event quest becomes permanent and also shifts to offline playability. For players without stable internet or those in regions with spotty connectivity, this removes a friction point that has existed since launch.
Equally important for new players is the addition of Prologue Demo save transfer. If you played Monster Hunter Wilds' Prologue Demo and have not yet started a full-version save, launching the full game will now let you carry that progress forward. This matters because the Prologue is a substantial chunk of content, and previously anyone who played it faced a choice: restart from scratch or abandon the demo entirely. That barrier is gone. The implementation is straightforward, no manual upload or account linking required, but the absence of this feature at launch left early players frustrated.
The technical requirements are worth noting. The patch demands 3.5 GB of free space, or 5.5 GB if you have the High Resolution Texture Pack installed. Capcom has also flagged specific driver versions: NVIDIA GeForce 581.57 or newer, AMD Radeon 25.9.1 or newer. Critically, AMD Radeon drivers 25.10.2 and higher have known issues on certain AMD Radeon graphics cards (RX 5500 XT and RX 7800 XT mentioned explicitly), so if you're on those drivers and hardware, you may need to roll back or wait for a fix. This is a genuine compatibility problem, not a minor note.
Bug fixes are scattered across systems. Guardian Fulgur Anjanath's head texture is corrected, Arch-tempered Arkveld's directional attack effects no longer displace incorrectly due to terrain, and a Sword & Shield trap-placement bug is resolved. A more subtle fix addresses Synthetic Shield and Synergy interactions when enhanced by another player's Resonance II set bonus. Players can now properly receive normal versions of these effects after the enhanced versions expire. There's also a fix for the Arkveld: Mark of Mastery pendant, which was stopping its swaying animation under high system load. Background music and sound effects are addressed, voice lines are corrected, and DLSS frame-rate-cap stuttering is being mitigated.
What is conspicuously absent is any balance adjustment to weapons, monsters, or core gameplay systems. This is a maintenance and quality-of-life patch, not a rebalance. The offline event quest shift is the structural change; everything else is repair work. For players waiting on weapon adjustments or monster difficulty tweaks, this patch does not deliver them.
