Dive Into the Depths in Grounded 2's Into the Abyss (8th June 2026)
The pond is finally opening on August 11. Grounded 2's Into the Abyss update brings underwater exploration, new creatures, and the amphibious Toe-biter Buggy.

The pond is finally opening. Grounded 2's Into the Abyss update launches August 11 and brings one of the biggest new areas to Brookhollow Park yet, a massive underwater zone with both surface and deep-water exploration.
This is a proper expansion of what the original Grounded did with water, but built on everything Obsidian's learned since then. New diving suits let you stay submerged longer and reach deeper sections, while the Toe-biter Buggy handles both land and water traversal, opening up exploration routes you couldn't tackle before. The creatures returning from the original game are here, koi fish, diving bell spiders, but new threats are waiting in the depths too.
Exploration is the core hook here. The Mountains, the Bayou, and the pond depths each have their own discoveries and challenges, whether you're going solo or with friends. The studio's been clear that this is just the start; Brookhollow Park will keep expanding with new areas and systems as development continues. Check what's new in the full notes below.

The pond is finally opening.
On August 11, Grounded 2's next major content update, Into the Abyss, arrives and brings players into one of the biggest new areas added to Brookhollow Park so far.
For the first time, players will be able to explore both above and below the water's surface, uncovering new locations, new challenges, and new mysteries hidden beneath the pond.
The deeper you go, the more there is to discover.
Exploration plays a huge role in Into the Abyss. New diving suits help players stay underwater longer and reach deeper sections of the pond, opening up new paths and opportunities as they progress through the area. Into the Abyss is all about exploration. Players will journey through new areas like the Mountains, the Bayou, and the depths beneath the pond, each offering new discoveries and challenges along the way. New diving suits will help players stay underwater longer and reach deeper parts of the pond as they continue their adventure.
Of course, the water isn't empty.
Creatures like the koi fish and diving bell spider make their return, while new threats wait beneath the surface for players brave enough to dive in.
Whether you're exploring solo or with friends, the pond is designed to make every trip into the depths feel like a brand new adventure.
Getting around the new area also comes with a new companion. The Toe-biter joins Grounded 2 as a new amphibious Buggy capable of traveling across both land and water, helping players explore more of the pond and tackle encounters in new ways.
For the team, Into the Abyss has been an opportunity to build on what players loved about underwater exploration in the original Grounded while applying everything we've learned since then. Community feedback helped shape our approach, and we're excited for players to finally get their hands on it.
