Microsoft Flight Simulator is celebrating America's 250th birthday with World Update 22: United States National Parks, a sprawling expansion that brings 31 of the nation's most iconic protected lands into the sim. From Death Valley's austere expanse to Olympic National Park's temperate rainforests, these areas have been rebuilt using updated photogrammetry, triangulated irregular network surface texturing, and digital elevation modelling to capture the genuine scale and character of each location.

The update spans the entire country: Utah's Bryce Canyon and Zion sit alongside Colorado's Rocky Mountain and Great Sand Dunes, while Oregon's Crater Lake and Mount Hood join Washington's North Cascades and Olympic parks. You'll also find 46 points of interest scattered throughout. Visitor centres, lodges, lookouts, and natural landmarks like Delicate Arch and Shiprock. Alongside three guided tours and nine discovery flights that let you explore these spaces with structured narratives.

This is a proper celebration of American geography rather than a token update. The guided tours represent a new mission type that walks you through each location with detailed commentary, making this feel less like a checklist of scenery and more like a structured tour experience. The full list of all 31 national parks and forests included is below.
