The developers openly admit that crashing issues remain unresolved on some PC configurations and are still investigating the root cause. This matters because it sets expectations correctly. If you've been crashing, this update may not solve your problem, and you may need to follow hardware-specific workarounds instead.

The crash situation splits into two tracks. For players using Radeon Series Graphics Cards specifically, the developers have published a three-step recovery process: delete save data, completely remove your graphics driver using AMD Cleanup Utility or DDU, then roll back to Adrenalin 25.12.1 (the December 2025 WHQL recommended release). This is not a patch fix. It's a driver rollback, which tells you the crash likely stems from a recent AMD driver update rather than EXSTETRA itself. Laptop and all-in-one PC users are warned to check their manufacturer's driver information before attempting this, since OEM drivers often differ from AMD's reference releases.

For the broader crash problem affecting fullscreen mode, the developers have implemented a temporary workaround rather than a permanent fix. The game now displays the title screen before the opening movie, allowing players to open Settings and switch from fullscreen to windowed mode before the crash occurs. This is a practical band-aid, it lets you play, but it does not solve the underlying fullscreen rendering issue. The developers commit to continuing investigation, which signals this remains a priority, but also that the root cause is not yet identified.

Two other fixes round out the patch. A DLC-exclusive item drop bug is resolved, preventing those items from appearing under unintended circumstances. Relevant only if you own the DLC and have been seeing items you shouldn't. A graphics display issue tied to refresh rates above 60 Hz is also fixed, which affects players using high-refresh monitors who experienced rendering problems. This is a straightforward fix with no caveats.

The practical takeaway: if you're crashing, this patch may not help unless you're on Radeon hardware and willing to rollback your driver.
