Crimson Desert Notes 1.16.02 (All Platforms Hotfix) (3rd August 2026)

Version 1.16.02 addresses critical loading screen hangs, GPU compatibility problems with high-end Radeon cards, and Mac-specific crashes, but Mac players will wait longer for their fix.

Version 1.16.02 is a stability-focused hotfix that tackles three separate crash vectors, each affecting different player populations. The patch is live on Steam PC immediately, but Mac users face a staggered rollout. The notes confirm the Mac version is still in progress, meaning some players will experience these problems for hours or longer after PC players have moved on.

The most widespread issue appears to be the loading screen hang. Players encountered either a persistent loading screen or a black screen when loading save data under unspecified circumstances. The vagueness here matters: the patch notes do not specify which save conditions triggered the problem, whether it was tied to specific character levels, housing states, or file sizes. This means players who experienced the crash have no way to know if their particular scenario is actually covered by this fix until they test it. The fix is live, but the diagnostic information is absent.

The second fix targets a narrower but still significant audience: players running Radeon RX 9070 XT or newer graphics cards with Ray Regeneration enabled. This is a recent-generation GPU issue, which suggests the problem emerged when the 9070 XT launched or when a recent driver update changed how Ray Regeneration interacted with those cards. Its specification of "or higher" indicates Pearl Abyss is preemptively covering future Radeon releases, but the fix only addresses graphical glitches, not crashes. Players experienced visual corruption rather than hard failures.

Mac players face two separate problems, and only one is fixed here. The MetalFX Denoising Upscaler crash is resolved, but the notes do not mention whether there are other Mac-specific issues outstanding. Given that the Mac patch is still rolling out, players on that platform should expect continued instability until the full version arrives.

The housing mode bug. Indoor features becoming unavailable under certain circumstances. Is the only non-crash fix in this patch. It affects a subset of players using Housing Mode specifically, and again, the conditions that trigger the unavailability are not detailed. This pattern of vague reproduction steps suggests either that Pearl Abyss is unsure which scenarios cause these problems, or that the issues are difficult to reproduce consistently.

Version 1.16.02 is a reactive patch addressing immediate stability problems rather than a planned feature update. The fixes are necessary, but the lack of detail around reproduction conditions and the staggered Mac rollout mean some players will remain affected for longer. PC players can test immediately; everyone else should monitor whether their specific issue is actually resolved.
