Civilization VII 1.4.2 is Coming Week of Patch Notes (21st July 2026)
Diplomacy gets a major overhaul in Civilization VII's next patch, arriving the week of July 27. You can now trade Gold and Influence in peace deals, and the UI lets you pause negotiations to plan your next move.

Diplomacy just got teeth in Civilization VII's 1.4.2 update, landing the week of July 27. The headline shift is how peace deals work: you're no longer limited to swapping Settlements. Gold and Influence now sit on the table too, which opens up entirely different negotiation angles depending on your treasury and soft power position.
The other major lift is visibility. The Leader Relationship panel now shows you who kicked off the events that matter, and Agenda notifications give you proper context on where you stand with each rival. That sounds small until you're three eras in and suddenly realise you've been misreading someone's intentions. Ashoka, the World Renouncer, has also been buffed, and you can now toggle Test of Time Victories on and off depending on how you want to play.
Stability improvements and bug fixes round out the patch, though the full changelog will arrive when the update goes live. The Brush & Blade collection's second part also drops alongside 1.4.2, pivoting focus to Korea with Yi Sun-sin and new Wonders Buseoka and Hwaseong.
Full Patch Notes
▲ Buff◆ TweakAnother update is around the corner for Civilization VII, featuring a handful of improvements and couple major changes all about deepening your diplomatic strategy:
- Expanded Peace Deals: You can now offer Gold and Influence in addition to trading Settlements. We've also updated the UI so you can temporarily dismiss a peace offer to survey the map before making your final decision.
- Leader Relationship Clarity: Keep closer tabs on your rivals. The Leader Relationship panel now displays who initiated key events, while expanded Agenda notifications give you better context on where you stand.
- And more! Turn on and off Test of Time Victories; lead your empire with the newly buffed World Renouncer Ashoka, and reconcile with Unfriendly leaders before things turn Hostile.
...and of course, improved game stability, several squashed bugs, and other improvements will be included in the full 1.4.2 changelog when the update goes live. What lies even further beyond the fog or war? We’re mapping things out now…
Alongside the free 1.4.2 update is also the second part of the Brush & Blade collection*, where our spotlight shifts to Korea! Dominate the seas with the scientific and militaristic leader Yi Sun-sin, guide Goryeo and Joseon to glory, and enjoy new Wonders Buseoka and Hwaseong.
How the collection works:
Players who have already purchased the collection will have immediate access to Part II when the update goes live, or secure a copy now to receive both parts.
Keep an eye out for First Looks and Game Guides dropping soon!
*The Brush and Blade Collection is available for separate purchase. Base game required. Terms apply.
