ARC Raiders Store Update 1.40.0 Patch Notes (4th August 2026)
Phantom Targets arrives as the first half of a two-part Player Project, whilst the development team acknowledges ongoing issues with Queen and Matriarch abilities that will be addressed in a future patch.

Store Update 1.40.0 lands today with a modest content push: two new cosmetic colours for the Volare outfit, a crossover cosmetic chain with THE FINALS, and the opening salvo of Phantom Targets, a two-part Player Project that splits across this patch and version 1.42 on August 18.
The Phantom Targets event itself asks players to repair faulty Antennas to triangulate signals whilst taking on the ARC using unconventional strategies. That second descriptor matters because it signals the event is designed to push players toward builds or approaches they might not normally use. The event's narrative framing, Shani investigating discrepant surveillance data, is thin, but the structure of splitting the Player Project across two patches suggests Embark is testing whether staggered content delivery keeps players returning across a two-week window rather than burning through everything in one session.
The crossover with THE FINALS is more substantial than it initially appears. Players who complete three hours of ARC Raiders will unlock the Azimuth outfit in THE FINALS, not vice versa. This is an one-way funnel designed to drive ARC Raiders engagement toward Embark's other live service title. It's a practical move for a smaller studio managing two concurrent games, though it means THE FINALS players get no reciprocal reward for time spent there.
Behind the cosmetics and events, however, sits the patch's most important admission: the Queen and Matriarch stomp damage bug is acknowledged and a fix is in development. The notes specify that damage is going through walls and triggering from too far away. Two separate failure modes that suggest the ability's collision detection or range calculation is broken rather than merely overtuned. No timeline is given. This is significant because Queen and Matriarch are endgame threats, and if their most dangerous attack is unreliable, it undermines difficulty tuning for late-game content. Players have clearly reported this enough that the team felt compelled to address it publicly, which typically means it's either widespread or affecting high-visibility content.
The team is also investigating PC launch error codes, another acknowledgment of a live issue without a fix date. This is less specific than the stomp bug report and suggests the investigation is still ongoing.
What's absent is any balance pass, mission tuning, or weapon adjustments. Store Update 1.40.0 is cosmetics, events, and bug acknowledgments. Whether the Queen and Matriarch fix actually ships with 1.42 on August 18 or slips further will tell you whether Embark is confident in its development velocity or whether known issues are stacking up faster than fixes can land.
