'83 - Quality-of-Life Patch #7 Notes (24th July 2026)

'83 has just received Quality-of-Life Patch #7, a smaller update that finally gives players a way to remove ineffective squad leaders and commanders from their roles. You can now initiate a votekick via the role or squad select menu by pressing the red X next to a leader's name, triggering a popup vote for eligible squad mates or team mates. It's a first pass, so UI improvements are planned, but it addresses a long-standing friction point in team coordination.

Beyond leadership accountability, the patch tackles audio across multiple weapons and environments. The AKS-74U, M870, SVD, and M21 all received interior firing audio updates for small concrete spaces, whilst footstep attenuation dropped by 10 metres to make movement more audible. Voice chat volume now properly persists after a game restart, and UI ping audio is louder. On the technical side, a 4K snow texture got shrunk to 256 pixels since it's always miles away from the player, freeing up VRAM.

Developers note they're focused on the first major content update and will share details soon. The patch also welcomes Qonzer as a new community server provider.

Today we're releasing a smaller patch with a number of changes/fixes that are ready to go live. In addition, we added the ability to votekick commanders and squad leaders.

Our current development focus is currently focused on our first major content update and we will be sharing more of what it will bring to '83 in the near future - keep your eyes peeled!

Added ability to start a votekick for squad leaders and commanders of your team via role/squad select menu

Press the Red X next to your Squad Leader or Commander to start a vote kick – All other eligible voters (Squad Mates / Team Mates) will then get a popup similar to the Team Kill Forgive/Punish screen where they can decide if the Squad Leader or Commander should be removed from their role.

This is just a first pass at the feature and improvements, including to the UI, will be coming in the future.

Code

Fixed a bug where upon game restart, despite the voice chat volume setting being saved, the volume will not actually be applied to in-game voice chat audio until resaving the setting
Fixes some issues with strike marks
No longer have labels on the strike target marks (only the area marks, the commander always plants the target so it’s not needed)
Other teams labels now white
TL and SL no should be correct
Strike area markers have the correct index
