7 Days to Die 1.0 Patch Notes (22nd July 2026)
The Henpocalypse V3.1.0 Update is now available in experimental form on Steam, introducing a full chicken farming system with new workstations, recipes, and sandbox customisation.
Chicken farming just became your new survival obsession. The Henpocalypse V3.1.0 Update is live in experimental form on Steam, and it transforms how you'll feed yourself in the apocalypse.
The centrepiece is the Chicken Coop workstation, a three-slot production hub that turns live chickens into eggs and feathers. Catch one first, though. They're skittish and you'll need to chase them down before hauling them home. Feed them with Rekt's Chicken Feed (corn and rotting flesh), then slot in a Brooding Lamp to speed production, a Chicken Run to halve feed costs, or a Nesting Box to unlock breeding. A new stress mechanic adds chaos: stressed chickens trigger events ranging from dropping your bird to angered zombies attacking. Four new recipes round out the system. Chicken Nuggets remove encumbrance, Wings boost melee damage and infection immunity, Ash Chicken Stew silences your smell from zombies, and Roadrunner Jerky temporarily speeds you up.
Sandbox options have been overhauled too. Density and respawn rates now split into day and night settings, infection chance is tunable, and hunger/thirst multipliers let you dial difficulty precisely. Existing presets may need updating due to these changes. The Stable release follows once experimental testing clears any critical bugs. Full details on all sandbox additions and bug fixes are below.
Full Patch Notes
▲ Buff✓ Fix◆ TweakThe version 3.1.0 Henpocalypse Update is available now in experimental form on Steam only. The Stable version will come soon barring any critical bug fixes during the experimental phase. Read on for more details.
Here is how you participate:
- Right click on the game in steam
- Click on properties
- Click the “Game Versions & Betas” tab
- The drop down menu will have latest_experimental available <— you want THAT
- Select that and wait for the game to download
Important Notes about this Experimental Release:
- Sandbox Options for enemy and animal Density and Respawn rates have been split into day and night settings. Due to this change, please check your preset codes to make sure they are still valid. Invalid codes may default some or all settings. Official Presets have also been updated with this change in mind.
- A late localization update was made to the chicken coop input tooltip where chickens were mistakenly mentioned as an input value. The chicken coop does require chickens for production. A localization update for additional languages will come with a future update.
- Although new games will always be recommended, game saves should be compatible and a new game is not required. Don't forget that saves can be backed up with the Manage Saves function. Copy and name your save for future use.
The Henpocalypse V3.1.0 Update Release Notes
- Chicken farming in the apocalypse is harder than it sounds. First you have to sneak up on the fowl. When that fails, give chase until you catch it. Then defend your raucous, fidgeting feathered friend from zombies all the way back to base. Place it in your Chicken Coop workstation for a steady supply of eggs and feathers. Rinse. Repeat. Now you're an apocalyptic chicken farmer.
- The Chicken Coop includes three tool slots:
- Brooding Lamp: Speeds up production and chicken maturation
- Chicken Run: Lets chickens hunt for bugs, cutting feed cost by 50%
- Nesting Box: Unlocks chicken breeding and adds nesting slots
- Chicken Nuggets
- Crafted from grilled meat, feathers, corn meal, and animal fat. Not only are the nuggets filling, they temporarily remove encumbrance.
- Crafted from domesticated chickens, corn meal, eggs, oil, and honey. Grandpa’s favorite wings give you temporarily boosted melee damage and infection immunity.
- Crafted from domesticated chickens, mushrooms, corn, coal, and water. Comes with plenty of food, but has no smell to zombies.
- Crafted from domesticated chickens, yucca fruit, nitrate powder, and beer. A moderate amount of food that temporarily boosts your run speed, beep beep.
- The Big Beak cosmetic outfit, originally worn by Nana’s Famous Chicken Mascot, is coming with the Stable release. Cluck and load. Cock-a-Doodle Doom.
- We’ve added new Sandbox Settings. Note: Existing custom presets may require updating with these new additions. New Sandbox Options:

- Chicken Coop Yield - Amount produced per cycle
- Chicken Coop Input - Required feed amount per production cycle
- Chicken Stress Event - Controls events when chickens get stressed
- Density and Respawn rates have been split into day and night options

- Infection Chance - Controls chance to get infected
