As a gamer eagerly waiting for the release of XDefiant on your trusty PS4 or Xbox One console, you may have to rethink your gaming setup. Ubisoft has recently announced that the last-gen versions of XDefiant have been cancelled.

This decision was made to ensure a consistent standard of quality for the game, according to a tweet from the official XDefiant Twitter account. The focus will now be solely on current-gen consoles such as the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.

While it may come as a disappointment to owners of older consoles, the move is not entirely unexpected. With the complexity of optimizing the game for five platforms and the need to maintain balance across different hardware capabilities, the decision makes sense.

XDefiant is set to be released on May 21, starting the pre-season. Despite the cancellation of the last-gen versions, the gameplay experience on current-gen consoles and PC promises to be enjoyable. However, there are still areas that players hope to see improvements in.
