The highly anticipated Hogwarts Legacy game from Avalanche Software is preparing to unveil its free summer update, setting the stage for exciting new content.

As the game reached its one-year milestone, Warner Bros. announced that previously PlayStation-exclusive content will be available on other platforms in the upcoming season, along with more enhancements and features.

With fans buzzing about what the update might entail, Avalanche community manager Chandler Wood shared insights on the studio's plans in a recent message shared on X.

"We are thrilled by the anticipation surrounding the free update for Hogwarts Legacy this summer," Wood expressed. "While we're not ready to reveal details just yet, we want to provide some clarity on what's in the works."

"Our mention of 'additional updates and features for the game' was deliberate. This update serves as a token of appreciation to our players for their fantastic reception of the game," Wood added.

Hogwarts Legacy emerged as the best-selling game of 2023, surpassing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, with 24 million copies sold according to Warner.

Despite the success of the Harry Potter spin-off, Warner emphasized its focus on growth in the gaming industry through free-to-play and live service models.

During a tech conference, JB Perrette, CEO of global streaming and games, highlighted the difference in performance between Hogwarts Legacy and the underperforming Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Warner's strategy going forward involves a reduced emphasis on the unpredictable triple-A console market.
