The latest exclusive report from IGN has revealed the first new God making their way to Smite 2 - the enigmatic Greek Goddess, Hecate.

Hecate is not just any ordinary God, they are the very first new God to be fully built from the ground up using Unreal Engine, setting them apart as a unique addition to the pantheon of divine beings in the game.

Accompanied by an official trailer, the unveiling of Hecate showcases their formidable abilities which center around the themes of Sorcery, Witchcraft, and Magic. One of the standout abilities, Traverse Worlds, allows Hecate to manipulate the entire map with a mesmerizing effect. The use of Unreal Engine truly brings these abilities to life, as VFX Artist Shayne Felmann explains the intricate process of rendering flow maps to achieve otherworldly distortions.

Among Hecate's arsenal of powers are Mythical Ritual, Tartarus Cell, Open the Gates, and Spell Eater, each adding a layer of complexity and strategy for players to explore and master.

Earlier this year, developer Titan Forge announced the arrival of Smite 2, scheduled for release on PC and current-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles. While the release window remains unconfirmed, players can look forward to a Closed Alpha test in the coming spring, with early access available through pre-ordering the Smite 2 Founder's Edition.

Notably, the introduction of Hecate signifies a significant milestone as Smite 2 transitions to Unreal Engine 5. Additionally, players can expect the innovative Divine Legacy system, which grants access to Unreal Engine 5 versions of classic Smite skins at no additional cost.

For those concerned about the transition to Smite 2, the option to link accounts allows for the seamless transfer of cross-gen skins and Legacy Gems from Smite 1 to Smite 2, ensuring that longtime fans can continue their journey with their favorite cosmetics and rewards.
