Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the latest game in the Yakuza series developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, has taken the gaming world by storm with its unprecedented sales pattern. Masayoshi Yokoyama, the director of the game, recently expressed his surprise at the fast rate of sales for the game.

In an interview with 4gamer (translated by Automaton), Yokoyama mentioned that the Like a Dragon series, initially known as Yakuza in the west, typically gains momentum slowly as word of mouth spreads and players gradually discover and purchase the game. However, this time was different as Infinite Wealth managed to ship one million copies within its first week of release, which was a pleasant shock for Yokoyama.

“We gave a press release about how [Infinite Wealth] sold over one million copies worldwide in one week following its release, but it’s really a speed we have never experienced before,” Yokoyama explained. The game's strong initial sales caught him off guard, as he elaborated, “People hear about the games from their friends, they happen to come across them, and that’s how the titles grow. That’s why the way [Infinite Wealth] started off was quite surprising to me.”

If you are a fan of RPGs and looking for a game that offers excellent combat, a unique and diverse cast of characters, and a willingness to be unconventional, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a must-play title that promises an immersive and unforgettable gaming experience.
