Exciting news for Final Fantasy XIV fans as the highly anticipated Dawntrail expansion is set to release on PC this July. However, before the grand arrival of this new content, Square Enix has decided to address a rather amusing issue related to the current character creation system.

Recently, FFXIV Director Naoki Yoshida took to the game's forums to address player feedback regarding the existing benchmark tool, which was developed over a decade ago based on the initial release version of A Realm Reborn. Yoshida openly admitted that the character creation system had been overlooked during the development process, resulting in characters that appeared "lifeless" and lacking in human-like qualities.

Yoshida highlighted several key issues that players had identified, including the dullness in the eyes, flattened facial contours, and inconsistent lighting conditions that affected the overall appearance of characters. These issues were attributed to specific weather conditions and lighting settings unique to the character creation system.

To rectify these issues and provide players with a more immersive character creation experience, the development team is currently working on a complete overhaul of the environments and light sources used in both the benchmark tool and the actual game. Once these improvements are implemented, the current benchmark tool will be replaced with a new and enhanced version.

While there is no specific timeline provided for the release of the updated benchmark tool, Yoshida assured players that the team is dedicated to resolving these issues promptly. By addressing the outdated character creation settings and introducing new enhancements, Final Fantasy XIV players can look forward to a more lifelike and vibrant gaming experience.
