If you're a Minecraft player who enjoys playing on PC, you may want to hold off on updating your game through the official Xbox App. It has come to light that updating through the Xbox App can potentially result in the deletion of your precious worlds.

According to a recent update on the Microsoft support website, Mojang, the company behind Minecraft, is aware of this issue and is actively investigating it. They are currently preventing the update on Windows to avoid any further instances of world loss.

If you do need to update your Minecraft game, Mojang recommends running the Gaming Services Repair Tool first. By running this tool, you can ensure that your Gaming Services are updated to version 19.87.13001.0, ultimately avoiding any update errors.

To run the Gaming Services Repair Tool, follow these steps:

  • Launch the Xbox app on PC.
  • Click on your Profile picture.
  • Navigate to Support.
  • Select Gaming Services Repair Tool.
  • Click on Start Troubleshooting.

In addition to the world deleting issue, Mojang has also highlighted that players on versions older than 1.20.70 or 1.20.71 may experience limitations in accessing certain online services, such as cross-platform multiplayer, Realms, and Featured Servers.

Unfortunately, there is no set timeline for when the update issue on PC will be fully resolved. It's crucial to take precautions and follow Mojang's recommendations to avoid any potential data loss.
