Immortals of Aveum Developer Ascedant Studios Reportedly Furloughs Majority of Staff

Ascedant Studios, the developer behind Immortals of Aveum, has recently furloughed the majority of its staff, leaving many in the gaming community shocked and concerned. The news was first reported by former employee Kris Morness on LinkedIn, with Polygon journalist Nicole Carpenter also confirming the reports.

Furlough, as defined by Morness, is an imposed leave of absence from work that is usually unpaid. While employees are technically still employed and expected to return to work at a later time, they are not eligible for certain benefits such as severance pay.

Carpenter echoed these sentiments, stating that "this lines up with what I've heard at Immortals of Aveum developer Ascedant Studios - that a large portion of the staff was recently furloughed." However, exact numbers have not been confirmed, as Ascendant Studios has not responded to requests for comment.

Immortals of Aveum, the studio's debut game published by EA, was released for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC last August to mixed reviews. Following the release, Ascendant had to lay off nearly half of its staff due to poor sales in a competitive market.

It's always disheartening to hear about job losses in the gaming industry, especially for a studio that put significant effort into developing a game like Immortals of Aveum. We hope for the best for the affected employees and look forward to seeing how Ascedant Studios navigates through this challenging time.
