The latest GSD data from GamesIndustry.biz reveals that Helldivers 2 has once again claimed the top spot as the best-selling game in the UK for the month of March. This marks the second consecutive month that Helldivers 2 has dominated the charts, surpassing popular titles like Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
The data indicates that Helldivers 2 sales are exceeding expectations, outpacing the performance of Spider-Man 2 during a similar timeframe. It's important to note that Spider-Man 2 is priced at £70 and is not available on PC, unlike Helldivers 2.
Overall, the UK saw a 26% increase in game sales in March compared to the previous year, with a total of 3.65 million PC and console games sold. Dragon's Dogma 2 narrowly outsold Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, with the latter only being on the market for half of March.
A noteworthy addition to the charts are the Command & Conquer titles, thanks to a bundle release on Steam. Two titles from the franchise made it to the Top Ten, with a total of ten games in the Top 20.
In terms of hardware sales, the UK saw a 22% increase in consoles sold in March compared to February. While PS5 sales were up 25% from the previous month, they were down 9% compared to March of the previous year. Nintendo Switch sales increased by 20% month-on-month but decreased by 20% year-on-year. Xbox Series S and X narrowly missed the second spot, with a 19% increase in sales from the previous month but an 18% decrease from the previous year.
