A new preview by GamePro reveals that Hellblade 2 for Xbox Series X/S will run at 30fps with a dynamic resolution. Unlike other games, Hellblade 2 won’t offer any graphics modes, and the frame rate can only be increased on PC.

Mark Slater-Tunstill, the game’s visual effects director, explained that the decision to lock the frame rate at 30fps is to provide players with a more "cinematic" experience, akin to movies that run at 24fps. This choice aims to immerse players deeper into the game's narrative and atmosphere.

Notably, Starfield, another major first-party Xbox Series X/S game, also has its frame rate capped at 30fps, showcasing a trend among upcoming Xbox titles.

Ninja Theory, now owned by Microsoft, announced the development of Hellblade 2 alongside the reveal of the Xbox Series X console back in 2019. After much anticipation, it has been confirmed that Hellblade 2 is set to release on May 21, 2024, for Xbox Series X/S and PC.

The game will be a digital-only release, priced at $50, offering a gameplay experience similar in length to its predecessor, which took players around eight hours to complete. This aligns with Ninja Theory's focus on delivering shorter, more focused gaming experiences for their fans.

Additionally, Tameem Antoniades, the co-founder and former chief creative director of Ninja Theory, has recently departed from the studio, marking a significant change in the development team behind Hellblade 2.
