Final Fantasy 14 Director Delays Expansion Launch to Accommodate Players Finishing Elden Ring DLC

Final Fantasy 14 fans, get ready! The highly anticipated expansion, Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail, is set to be released on June 28 for players with early access, with the regular release following on July 2. This new expansion is sure to bring a whole new level of adventure and excitement to the beloved game.

During a recent panel at PAX, director Naoki Yoshida, affectionately known as Yoshi-P, shared a humorous tidbit about the release date of Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail. He jokingly mentioned that he had to make sure to give players a week to finish Elden Ring's upcoming DLC before the release of the new expansion. Yoshida's playful banter added to the excitement surrounding the upcoming release.


Shadow of the Erdtree, the new expansion, is set to be released on June 21, 2024, for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. Players will need the base game to dive into the new content, which is now available for pre-order in various editions, starting at $39.99 / £34.99. Additionally, those who pre-order will receive the Ring of Miquella in-game bonus gesture, adding even more value to the expansion.

According to the game's official website, players will be guided by Empyrean Miquella to the Land of Shadow, where dark secrets await discovery. The expansion will take players on a journey beyond the familiar lands, introducing them to a completely new world filled with diverse situations, meticulous dungeons, and menacing enemies.
