Escape from Tarkov Fans Express Anger Over New $250 PvE Mode Offer

Escape from Tarkov, the popular survival shooter developed by Battlestate Games, has recently stirred up controversy among its player base. The studio's decision to introduce a new $250 edition of the game, known as The Unheard Edition, has left many players feeling frustrated and angry.

The Unheard Edition offers access to a PvE co-op mode, as well as a range of upgrades that provide players with an advantage during gameplay. This move has particularly upset players who had previously purchased the now-unavailable Edge of Darkness edition, which cost $100 and included a season pass for all future DLC.

Following backlash from the community, Battlestate Games attempted to address players' concerns by offering additional features to Edge of Darkness owners, such as high priority matchmaking and temporary access to the PvE mode. However, this failed to satisfy many fans who felt that the compensation was inadequate.

In a recent statement on Reddit, Battlestate Games CEO Nikita Buyanov defended the studio's decision, stating that the PvE mode does not count as DLC. Although the mode will eventually be available for free to all Edge of Darkness members, there is no clear timeline for its release.

Despite the studio's attempts to rectify the situation, players remain dissatisfied, with many expressing doubts about the game's future given its prolonged early access status. Some have even taken to social media to voice their frustration, with one Reddit post showing a screenshot of the game being uninstalled.

As the controversy continues to unfold, it remains unclear how Battlestate Games plans to address the concerns of its player base. Whether the introduction of the PvE mode will ultimately benefit the game or lead to further backlash, only time will tell.
