With the highly anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for Elden Ring set to release on June 21, 2024, the community is still grappling with the issue of cheaters in The Lands Between. Despite the main game being over two years old, instances of unfair gameplay continue to arise.

A recent video circulating online showcases a player dropping an astonishing 85,899,344 Runes upon death. To put this into perspective, a maximum level invader would typically drop around 350,000 Runes, making this incident incredibly abnormal.

In the video, the suspected cheater meets their end in a spectacular fashion, courtesy of a well-aimed shot with the Jar Cannon. You can view the clip here or below.

Speculation runs rife within the community, with many attributing this anomaly to cheating. Some users on Reddit have even hinted at the utilization of character builder cheats, suggesting a persistent issue that needs to be addressed.

However, an alternative theory posits that this exorbitant Rune drop could be the result of a rare bug on the PlayStation Network (PSN) rather than intentional cheating. Some Redditors argue that a genuine cheater would have likely survived an encounter with a non-cheating player, adding a layer of mystery to the situation.

Interestingly, reports have surfaced indicating that similar instances of unusually high Rune drops have occurred in the past. This begs the question – is this a deliberate act of cheating or an unforeseen glitch in the system? The answer remains elusive, but one thing is for certain: this is far from the norm in Elden Ring.
