Dev Addresses Expectations but No Manor Lords Roadmap “Yet”

If you've been eagerly anticipating the release of Manor Lords, you might have noticed the absence of a roadmap from developer Slavic Magic. In a recent post on Steam, the developer explained why a roadmap won't be coming anytime soon.

Instead of laying out a detailed plan for the game's development, Slavic Magic has opted for a different approach. The developer plans to listen to player feedback and implement features based on that feedback. The initial updates for Manor Lords will focus on bug fixes and polish to ensure a smooth gameplay experience.

If you're expecting Manor Lords to be a Total War competitor or an RPG like Kingdom Come: Deliverance, you might be in for a surprise. According to Slavic Magic, Manor Lords is a city-builder with battles at its core. While there will be combat, it won't be on the same large-scale level as Total War.

Additionally, Manor Lords is not an empire management sim like Crusader Kings or Hearts of Iron. The game is designed to be played at a smaller scale, offering a more focused experience for players. It's not a competitive RTS either, but rather a relaxed gameplay experience with occasional high-intensity moments.

Early Access and Game Pass

Slavic Magic emphasizes that Manor Lords will be an Early Access title, not a finished release. While this may disappoint some players, the developer believes it's the right path to take to create the best possible game.

You can get your hands on Manor Lords when it launches on PC via Early Access on April 26th. Additionally, the game will be available on Game Pass on day one, allowing subscribers to enjoy it at no extra cost.
