Security software company Denuvo has recently unveiled a groundbreaking solution to combat leaks within the gaming industry. Known as TraceMark for Gaming, this new watermarking technology is set to revolutionize the way developers protect their pre-release content.

According to Denuvo, TraceMark for Gaming is a "pioneering watermarking solution" that utilizes invisible watermark technology trusted by major entertainment entities such as Hollywood studios, sports leagues, and pay-TV operators.

What sets TraceMark apart is its ability to integrate seamlessly into a developer's workflow, allowing them to apply both visible and invisible watermarks to their games during the development phase. Each copy of the game is then marked with a unique identifier, making it easier for developers to track down the source of any leaked content.

The primary goal of TraceMark is to identify leakers who share early code or footage of pre-release games, discouraging unauthorized distribution by holding individuals accountable for their actions. By enabling developers to trace leaked content back to its source, Denuvo aims to minimize the occurrence of leaks in the gaming community.

Not only does TraceMark target external sources of leaks, but it also addresses internal risks posed by playtesters, beta users, the press, and content creators. By implementing watermarks on review copies and press screeners, developers can enhance the security of their content and uphold the integrity of their official releases.

In addition to its innovative watermarking technology, Denuvo has expanded its security offerings to the Nintendo Developer Portal, becoming the first security partner to join the platform. This partnership includes tools like Nintendo Switch Emulator Protection, aimed at safeguarding Switch games from piracy attempts.
