Call of Duty: Vanguard, the latest installment in the popular first-person shooter franchise, has certainly stirred up mixed reactions among players and critics alike. Despite receiving a "mixed or average" rating on Metacritic, the game managed to achieve an impressive milestone by selling a whopping 30 million copies worldwide.

According to Brian Hong, a former social media strategist for Activision, the sales figures for Call of Duty: Vanguard are nothing short of remarkable. This news comes as a surprise considering the lukewarm reception the game received upon its release.

While the game may not have met Activision's initial expectations, the fact remains that it resonated with a large audience and generated significant sales revenue. In a statement made in May 2022, Activision acknowledged that the game fell short of expectations, citing a lack of innovation and the World War II setting as contributing factors.

Despite its shortcomings, Call of Duty: Vanguard did manage to secure multiple award nominations. The game was recognized at prestigious events such as the 25th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards, where it received a nomination for Online Game of the Year. Additionally, it was also nominated for the Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

It's fascinating to see how a game like Call of Duty: Vanguard, with its polarizing reception, could still achieve such remarkable sales figures. This goes to show the enduring popularity of the franchise and its ability to attract a diverse audience of gamers.
