After being forced out of the country in 2023, Blizzard games are making a triumphant comeback to China as Microsoft and NetEase have struck a new agreement.

This renewal of the partnership between Blizzard and NetEase, which initially began in 2008, paves the way for the reentering of popular titles such as World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Diablo, Overwatch, StarCraft, and more into the Chinese gaming market.

Not only will Blizzard games be making a comeback, but Microsoft and NetEase are also looking into the possibility of bringing new NetEase titles to Xbox consoles and other gaming platforms.

As of the latest data in 2024, NetEase stands as the second-largest video game company in China, right behind Tencent.

Johanna Faries, President of Blizzard Entertainment, expressed excitement about the reestablishment of the partnership with NetEase, stating, "We are immensely grateful for the passion the Chinese community has shown for Blizzard games throughout the years, and we are focused on bringing our universes back to players with excellence and dedication."

NetEase CEO and Director William Ding also shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing their commitment to providing exhilarating and creative entertainment experiences to their users in the Chinese gaming community.

A specific date for the return of Blizzard games to China is yet to be announced by the companies, but gamers in China can look forward to diving back into these beloved titles in the near future.
