Exciting news for all the fans of The Elder Scrolls series! Bethesda has recently given a small but thrilling update on The Elder Scrolls 6. The company's announcement comes as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the iconic RPG franchise.

In a message to the fans on Twitter, Bethesda confirmed that the highly anticipated sequel is indeed in development. The company stated, "Last but not least, yes, we are in development on the next chapter – The Elder Scrolls VI. Even now, returning to Tamriel and playing early builds has us filled with the same joy, excitement, and promise of adventure."

The Elder Scrolls series has a rich history, with the first game, The Elder Scrolls: Arena, released back in 1994. The most recent entry, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, has been a massive success, selling over 60 million copies worldwide.

The Elder Scrolls 6 was initially announced at E3 2018 with a teaser trailer confirming its pre-production status at Bethesda Game Studios. Despite the announcement, the studio was also working on another project, Starfield, which was released before The Elder Scrolls 6.

After several delays, Starfield finally hit the shelves last September, making Elder Scrolls 6 the next flagship game from Bethesda.

In an interview, Todd Howard, the series director, shared his thoughts with GQ on the prolonged announcement of Elder Scrolls 6, stating, "I have asked myself that a lot. I don't know. I probably would've announced it more casually."

When asked about the aspirations for the game, Howard mentioned, "We want it to fill that role of the ultimate fantasy-world simulator. And there are different ways to accomplish that given the time that has passed."

Pete Hines, the former Bethesda publishing boss, mentioned that Elder Scrolls 6 was in early development last August. However, he advised fans not to expect any further news about the game for a couple of years after the release of Starfield.

In terms of exclusivity, there have been discussions about whether The Elder Scrolls 6 will be an Xbox exclusive. Microsoft's head of gaming stated last summer that the game is "five-plus years away" from release.
