New Witcher 3 DLC? Anniversary Stream Fuels the Fire
CD Projekt Red's Blood and Wine anniversary stream arrives May 28, and the timing has fans convinced a long-rumored third DLC is finally getting announced.
Ten years since Blood and Wine launched, and CD Projekt Red wants to celebrate. The studio announced on X that a special anniversary stream for The Witcher 3's final expansion will air on May 28 at 5 PM CEST, featuring developers Kacper Niepokólczycki and Magdalena Zych playing through Toussaint and talking about the DLC. Officially, that's all it is. Unofficially, the replies are on fire.
Fans are reading this as a setup for the long-rumored third Witcher 3 expansion, and I can't blame them. Multiple reports over the past several months have claimed that a new DLC is in development at Fool's Theory, the same studio handling The Witcher 1 remake for CD Projekt. Those reports suggest the expansion would arrive sometime this year, potentially bridging the gap to The Witcher 4, which CD Projekt has said won't launch until 2027 at the earliest. One fan summed up the mood perfectly: "Am I being baited again?"
The timing is suspicious for another reason. As reported by VGC, CD Projekt is due to publish its latest earnings results 30 minutes after the stream begins. If there's a DLC announcement to make, pairing it with a financial update and a nostalgia-heavy livestream would be a very deliberate piece of scheduling. CD Projekt hasn't confirmed anything beyond the anniversary celebration, and a spokesperson previously declined to comment on the DLC rumors. But scheduling a dedicated stream for a decade-old expansion, right alongside an earnings call, when your community is already primed for an announcement? That doesn't feel accidental. If this turns out to be nothing more than a replay of Blood and Wine with fond memories, the backlash will write itself.
