Warzone's PS4 Version Dies June 4 After 13 Years
Warzone's PS4 client gets pulled from the PS Store on June 4, with servers following in November. It's one of the biggest signs yet that the PS4's 13-year run is reaching its end.
Thirteen years after the PS4 launched, one of its biggest remaining live-service games is being shown the door. Call of Duty: Warzone's PS4 version will be delisted from the PlayStation Store on June 4, according to a breakdown published by Push Square. Players who already have the client downloaded can keep playing until around November, but the writing is on the wall.
The timeline from here is staggered. Warzone's in-game store on PS4 gets removed on June 25, though Battle Pass progression will still function. Online services are expected to shut down entirely once Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4 kicks off, which, based on the game's October 23 launch and the usual three-week gap before a new season begins, puts the final cutoff somewhere in November. Activision hasn't locked in an exact date yet.
Warzone isn't the only PS4 game getting the axe in June. Horizon Chase Turbo gets delisted on June 1 following layoffs at Epic Games, and Battlefield Hardline's PS4 servers go offline on June 22. Pinball FX and Pinball M on PS4 will stop receiving new DLC and updates starting June 1 as well, though both remain available on the store.
Of all of these, Warzone is the one that stings most as a symbolic moment. This was one of the games that kept millions of players on PS4 hardware well past the PS5's 2020 launch. Pulling it from the store doesn't just remove a game; it removes one of the last major reasons anyone was still booting up that console for online play. I'd covered the broader June PS4 purge earlier this week, but Warzone specifically deserves its own spotlight because of what it represents for the platform's slow wind-down.
PS5 versions of Warzone and the wider Call of Duty ecosystem are unaffected.
