Tekken 8's Kunimitsu Lands May 27 With Fire Breath
Bandai Namco revealed Kunimitsu's full gameplay trailer at Evo Japan 2026, confirming the fan-favorite ninja arrives May 27 with a fire-breathing move that rewrites her kit.

Kunimitsu has been a Tekken staple since the original game in 1994, but she's never breathed fire before. Bandai Namco used Evo Japan 2026 to drop a full gameplay trailer for the returning ninja, confirming her as the first character in Tekken 8's season 3 DLC with an early access launch date of May 27 for season pass holders. Everyone else gets her on June 1.
The three-minute trailer leans hard into Kunimitsu's Manji Ninjutsu roots, but the fire breath is the standout addition. It's a surprising choice for a character historically defined by speed and evasion rather than flashy projectiles, and it gives her a mid-range threat she's never really had. Her new Rage Art is equally dramatic: a Kuji-do deployment that ends opponents in a single cinematic hit. I'm curious how the competitive scene reacts, because Kunimitsu's evasive kit already frustrates players at high level, and layering a fire-breathing mixup on top of that could make her a nightmare to deal with.
This is the second iteration of Kunimitsu in the main storyline, carrying over the rework from Tekken 7 where the original Phantom Thief's daughter took up the mantle. According to Game Rant's reporting, fans have been responding well to her new personality, described as more laid-back than previous appearances, alongside the curse blade and revamped moveset.
Kunimitsu is only the start of season 3's roster. Bandai Namco confirmed that Bob and Roger Jr. will follow this summer and fall, with a fourth character set to be revealed at Combo Breaker on May 24. Season 3 also includes 44 new cosmetics, the Aurora Outfit Pack, and a new battle stage.
