Tomorrow's Splatoon Raiders Direct Packs 30 Min of Gameplay
A 15-minute Direct followed by 30 minutes of hands-on Treehouse gameplay gives Splatoon Raiders nearly 45 minutes of dedicated airtime tomorrow.

Forty-five minutes of dedicated coverage for a single-player Splatoon spin-off is not something I expected to write about, but here we are. Nintendo announced that tomorrow's Splatoon Raiders Direct will run roughly 15 minutes starting at 3pm BST / 10am ET / 7am PT, immediately followed by a Nintendo Treehouse: Live session featuring around 30 minutes of actual gameplay.
That Treehouse segment is the real draw here. Fifteen minutes of a focused Direct can only show so much, but half an hour of people playing the game on camera should answer the questions that trailers can't. How does exploration actually feel across the Spirhalite Islands? How deep is the gadget and loadout system? Does the co-op for up to four players change the encounter design, or is it just the same content with more ink on screen? Nintendo's Treehouse streams have historically been pretty good at showing games unvarnished, so I'm hoping this one gives us a genuine sense of the loop rather than another sizzle reel.
Splatoon Raiders launches on July 23 as a Switch 2 exclusive, which puts this Direct less than a month before release. That timing suggests Nintendo is confident enough to let the game sell itself with extended footage rather than holding everything back. Players will explore islands, fight Salmonoids, and team up with returning Splatoon 3 characters Frye, Shiver, and Big Man from Deep Cut. New Amiibo for the trio will also launch alongside the game.
Giving a spin-off this much stage time, especially one that ditches the competitive multiplayer Splatoon is known for, signals that Nintendo sees Raiders as a proper tentpole for the Switch 2's early lineup rather than filler between bigger releases. I'm curious whether 30 minutes of raw gameplay backs that up.
