$800M in One Weekend? Brand New Day Projections Soar

Box office projections for Spider-Man: Brand New Day are stacking up fast, with one estimate putting the global opening weekend at a staggering $800 million.

An $800 million global opening weekend. If that projection holds, Spider-Man: Brand New Day would slot in as the second biggest debut in cinema history, trailing only Avengers: Endgame's $1.2 billion launch. Even the conservative estimates are enormous: Deadline pegs the domestic opening at $180 to $190 million, while Box Office Pro projects $230 to $250 million domestically. The $800 million global figure comes from the tracking account Global Box Office on X.

Any of those numbers would make Brand New Day the biggest opening of 2026, comfortably surpassing Toy Story 5's $159 million domestic debut. The higher-end domestic projections would also put it within striking distance of Spider-Man: No Way Home's $260 million record. Deadline noted that Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey still holding IMAX screens could limit some premium format revenue, but Brand New Day will have access to Dolby and other large format screens regardless.

I'm not surprised by the scale here, but I am a little surprised at how close some analysts think it could get to Endgame territory. That film had a decade of narrative buildup behind it. Brand New Day is a standalone Spider-Man adventure with Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jon Bernthal. A solo Spidey film being in the same conversation says a lot about how bulletproof this character is at the box office right now. On the gaming side, Marvel Snap has already launched a full Brand New Day season with tie-in cards, and you can expect every Marvel-adjacent game to ride this wave for the rest of the summer.

Whether Brand New Day actually cracks $800 million in a single weekend or lands closer to $600 million, it's going to dwarf everything else released this year. The only film likely to challenge it is Avengers: Doomsday later in 2026.
