Down $900K Going Into Day 7, SGDQ Still Hit $2.4M

Summer Games Done Quick 2026 looked like it might fall short heading into its last day. It didn't.

Going into Day 7, Summer Games Done Quick 2026 had raised just over $1.3 million for Doctors Without Borders. That's roughly $900,000 short of where both SGDQ 2025 and AGDQ 2026 finished. The marathon closed Saturday night at $2,408,901.

Nearly half the total came in on the final day, which is a wild surge even by GDQ standards. Late incentive unlocks pushed the pace, including a Super Dram World 3 bonus run and a blindfolded Simon fight in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Those last-day pushes turned what looked like a down year into a finish that landed within spitting distance of January's Awesome Games Done Quick, which raised $2.44 million for Prevent Cancer Foundation. SGDQ 2025 hit $2,436,614. The consistency across three consecutive events is almost eerie.

The week itself had plenty of highlights beyond the donation tracker. Bluekandy set a world record in Kirby Air Riders, someone ran Resident Evil 3: Nemesis on a guitar controller, and the Tetris Tournament finals were brought on-camera for the first time. The full schedule also featured GDQ debuts for Slay the Spire 2, Pragmata, and Resident Evil Requiem. Since 2010, Games Done Quick events have collectively raised more than $62 million for charity.

I love that GDQ keeps finding ways to stay interesting after sixteen years. The format tweaks this year, like moving Silly Games Done Quick to an early Thursday slot and pulling pinball and arcade hardware runs into the main lineup, show an event that's still experimenting rather than coasting. Next up is Flame Fatales 2026 from September 13-19, followed by GDQ's first appearance at Gamescom and Awesome Games Done Quick 2027 in Atlanta from January 3-10, 2027.
